Mumbai, November 13, 2024 — In a world where artificial intelligence is reshaping creative industries, a recent battle for recognition is putting a spotlight on the rights of creators. Mumbai-based AI filmmaker Arindam Biswas has taken a stand by issuing a legal notice through his advocate, Ms Sneha Singh to Fat Monk Productions and Swastik Productions based in Mumbai, India—for allegedly denying him credit for his breakthrough work on an AI-generated music video for the song “AAI DIWALI” which involved 100% AI generated Visuals, Lip-synching and Consistency of Character with Storyline.
Arindam Biswas isn’t just an AI Filmmaker and Creator. With over a decade of experience in filmmaking in Advertising and Music Videos, he ventured into the AI realm, bringing his creativity and technical skills together to produce a visually stunning and innovative AI music video. Yet, when the video was released, his name was nowhere to be found in the credits, despite his role as the main visionary and creator behind the video creation of the project.
Notice sent by Advocate Sneha Singh, representing Mr. Arindam Biswas, states that this unethical conduct and the intentional withholding of credits by Fat Monk Productions and Swastik Productions reflect a pattern of exploitation designed to strip creators of due recognition while falsely presenting ownership of the work.
Further, Advocate Sneha Singh, stated that there was no agreement between my client and the production house wherein my client gave away his rights of credit hence this is completely unethical & illegal. Giving credit isn’t just a courtesy; it’s a right for every creator who shares their talent and vision.
This isn’t the first time a creator has faced such a challenge. Creating AI art, especially a music video, demands a blend of creativity and tech-savvy skills. And for Biswas, this project was a testament to his years of dedication and expertise.
Advocate Singh points out that this problem isn’t new but is particularly concerning in today’s time. “Creators often get overlooked, especially in projects that blend art with new technology,” she explained. “Mr. Biswas’s case is just one example of how the industry sometimes fails to give creators the credit they deserve, despite their unique contributions.”
Industry insiders are watching this case closely, as it could set a precedent for future creative projects. Many creators feel that proper credit isn’t just a matter of pride—it’s essential for career growth, reputation, and future collaboration opportunities. For filmmakers like Biswas, acknowledgment opens doors, attracts new projects, and builds a name in a fiercely competitive industry.
The dispute has sparked a conversation among tech enthusiasts, and filmmakers alike. The message is clear: Creators deserve respect and acknowledgment, as they are not ghosts.
As he waits for a response from the production houses, Biswas’s stand has already raised awareness about the rights of creators, especially those on the cutting edge of technology. Many hope this case will drive change in the industry, ensuring that creators and artists get the recognition they deserve—credit where credit is due.
