Group Exhibition Curated by JohnyML, Presented by CanonFire Creatives
New Delhi, October 25, 2025 — Bikaner House will soon play host to an ambitious and evocative group exhibition titled “Melange of Memories: Thirty Artists Reimagine the Poetics of Memory,” curated by noted art critic and curator JohnyML and presented by Kali Charan Padhi, artist and director of CanonFire Creatives, Bhubaneswar. The show will run from October 31 to November 4, 2025, at the LTC Gallery, Bikaner House, New Delhi.
Bringing together thirty accomplished artists from across India, the exhibition explores how memory — personal, cultural, and historical — shapes visual identity and artistic expression.
A Confluence of Memory and Expression
As the title suggests, Melange of Memories celebrates the intersections of recollection, imagination, and identity. It features artists who share an academic grounding from India’s premier art institutions yet have evolved distinctive vocabularies rooted in diverse geographies and experiences.
Curator JohnyML observes,
“Each artist reflects how memory becomes the foundation of identity — shaping visual thought, emotion, and style across time and space.”
Rejecting rigid thematic boundaries, the exhibition embraces multiplicity and freedom, uniting painters of varying generations and sensibilities in a cohesive visual dialogue.
Highlights from the Exhibition
The exhibition spans a broad spectrum of styles — from abstraction to figuration, traditional idioms to conceptual experiments.
-
Shabana Quadri and Jyoti Khushwaha present non-representational works where colour and texture evoke emotional resonance.
-
Vrindavan Solanki, a senior modernist, infuses his serene figurative works with timeless calm.
-
Supriya Amber celebrates womanhood through tribal iconography, while Yusuf’s rhythmic abstractions align Indian sensibility with modernist grace.
-
Rajesh Singh and Promud Boruah explore cosmic and perceptual spaces through abstraction.
Narrative and symbolism emerge powerfully in the works of Kumar Vikas Saxena, Rohit Supakar, and Rahul Mitra, who confront historical memory, material inequality, and existential irony. Kanha Behera and Gurmeet Marwah revisit folk and childhood memories through vibrant storytelling.
Explorations of identity and spirituality feature in the creations of Dileep Sharma, Laxman Aelay, Ganapati Hegde, Anand Panchal, and Manish Chavda, while Sujata Achrekar, Shubhendu Mishra, and Nishant Dange meditate on transformation, morality, and endurance.
Nagesh Goud Bolgum, Santhana Krishnan, and Sanghapal Mhaske reinterpret mythology, perception, and portraiture with fresh emotional energy, whereas Aalap Shah and Sachin Jaltare balance minimalism and spiritual abstraction.
A spirit of synthesis pervades Bipin Martha, M. Narayana, Asit Kumar Patnaik, Ramesh Gorjala, and Gurudas Shenoy, who blend modern technique with traditional motifs, transforming form and colour into meditative harmonies.
A Living Archive of Indian Contemporary Art
Curator JohnyML writes,
“These artists represent a cross-section of India’s visual culture. Their works embody memory not as nostalgia, but as a living archive of experience — revealing the evolving pulse of contemporary India.”
Presenter Kali Charan Padhi, through CanonFire Creatives, aims to make modern and contemporary Indian art more inclusive and engaging.
“Melange of Memories is a celebration of our shared aesthetic and emotional landscape — where memory becomes a bridge between the past and the present,” he says.
