Bengaluru, June 2023 – R.S. Dharmendhar, the Assistant Vice President (AVP) of the Karnataka chapter of the Association of Hospitality Professionals (Welfare) India (AHPWI), was honored with the prestigious award for Best General Manager (GM) Karnataka Hotels. The accolade was presented in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the hospitality industry. The award ceremony took place during the World of Hospitality Mega Event organized by AHPWI at Tripura Vasani, Palace Grounds, Bengaluru from June 13th to 15th, 2023.
Under the dynamic leadership of Honorable Pradeep Kumar Chandel, renowned hospitality leader and Founder Chairman of AHPWI, the association played a pivotal role in organizing this grand event, which witnessed the participation of approximately 15,000 hospitality leaders from across India.

The panelists emphasized the importance of harnessing India’s unique heritage, rich culture, and diverse geography to attract domestic and international tourists. They discussed strategies to enhance the tourism experience, focusing on offering world-class accommodations, upskilling the workforce, and developing economical and clean lodging options for business travelers. The panel also emphasized the significance of promoting regional tourism circuits and religious tourism to unlock the full potential of India’s diverse destinations.
AHPWI, through its flagship initiative “Hospitality Ki Pathshala,” showcased its commitment to uplifting the hospitality community by providing skills-based education and training to underprivileged students in the industry. This initiative, in alignment with the Skill India Campaign, aims to equip 50,000 students across India with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the hospitality sector. By empowering the next generation of hospitality professionals, AHPWI envisions a stronger and more sustainable industry.
The World of Hospitality Mega Event served as a testament to the immense impact of the hospitality and tourism sectors on India’s economy. Representing over 5.5 crore managers and workers, these sectors contribute more than 10 percent to the country’s GDP. The event brought together leaders, influencers, and stakeholders from various regions of India, fostering networking opportunities and collaboration. Participants had the chance to engage in insightful discussions, exchange ideas, and explore avenues for growth and innovation.
The recognition of R.S. Dharmendhar as the Best GM Karnataka Hotels was a testament to his exceptional leadership, management skills, and dedication to the hospitality industry. With a Master’s in Business Administration and extensive experience in general management, marketing, and operations, Mr. Dharmendhar has consistently demonstrated his ability to drive revenue growth, improve operational efficiency, and provide exceptional guest experiences. His accomplishments were particularly remarkable during the challenging times of the pandemic, as he successfully managed 14 outlets, ensuring their operational excellence and contributing to the success of the Karnataka Chapter.
During the event, the delegation, led by Founder Chairman and National President Sh. Pradeep Kumar Chande had the privilege of meeting Deputy Chief Minister Sh. D.K. Shivkumar. The association was invited to share their insights and expertise in shaping the new Tourism Policy for Coastal Karnataka. Esteemed individuals such as Mr. Shankar Bharadwaj, Mr. Manoj Chavan, Mr. Anupam Vohra, Mr. Kamal Aditya, and Mr. Jaideep Majumdar were also present during the meeting.
